She was born in Chase Farm Hospital in north London, to Jewish parents. At the age of 14, she began to write music, and soon she began working music for a living. In 2003, Her first debut album, Frank, was released. Frank was a huge success for Amy. The movie "Amy" is about her life by her own words. The documentary is based on Amy's life, how she struggled to get where she was.
By 2008, she got into serious drug problems, which started to threaten her career. She also got into an argument that she became a staple in popularity polls not because of her musical contributions but because of her lifestyle. She suffered from bulimia very badly. The way she was going, she would have died eventually.
The documentary shows the life from Amy's childhood to her music career, all until her death in 2011.In the documentary, she is seen talking about her early life, fame, love, career and family. The director of the movie Mr. Kapadia conducted more than 100 interviews with her friends and relatives to narrate all about Winehouse's life. The documentary shows many scenes of unseen footage and unheard tracks Winehouse had recorded in the years before she died.
