Guillermo del Toro, a visionary director in all things supernatural, returns with a bone-chilling horror/thriller movie, ‘Crimson Peak.' Del Toro’s fascination with fairy tales and horror permeates his stories and gives them an authentic feel. Crimson Peak is set in the 19th century England and centered around our female protagonist, Edith. Edith has had an intimate connection with ghosts all her life, and that leaked into her career as well. After an encounter with the handsome Sir Thomas Sharpe, played by Tom Hiddleston, Edith becomes romantically involved with him and later on ends up marrying him.
Sir Sharpe soon takes his betrothed back to his home, atop a hill covered in red clay. It’s here that Edith encounters hideous and gruesome ghosts and tries to unveil the secrets of the ancient and gothic mansion. She discovers a nefarious plot involving murder and betrayal and attempts to solve the mystery before it's too late.
The outstanding and arresting visuals bring the trailer to life. The cinematography is brilliant, and the story line is first-rate. The lighting and camera angle only adds to the tension of the movie. Unlike other run of the mill horror movies that only wish to scare, this one takes you on a roller-coaster ride filled with suspense, fear, and mystery.
