Saving Mr. Banks Teaser, Trailer & Video Songs

Mary Poppins is a household name for the lovers of Walt Disney, but no one knows the story behind its writer, P. L. Travers. Saving Mr. Banks is a drama about the behind-the-scenes events that led to the incredible musical drama that Mary Poppins is today. P. L. Travers, portrayed by Emma Thompson, is a no-nonsense and high-strung character who hates everything that Disney and its founder represent. Walt Disney, after making a promise to his daughters, endeavors to get the rights to the Mary Poppins’ story.

But his attempts remain thwarted by its author at every turn. He lavishes her with gifts and treats but only succeeds in pushing her away. The entire story of the movie revolves around the reason behind the creation of Mary Poppins and what that character meant to Ms. Travers. Ms. Travers, at first, despises every idea suggested by the writers as it would ruin the integrity of the character but surrenders in the end. The trailer, through hilarious comedy and tear-jerking drama, depicts a delightful biographical movie.

Though the trailer appears to show the entirety of the story, the success of this one does not lie in the ending, but in its journey. While the trailer, romanticizes the relationship between Travers and Walt, the reality is far from it. Unlike in the trailer, where Travers gives in to Disney’s ideas after years of pestering, in real life, Travers regretted her decision till her death. The movie received positive reviews for its outstanding and award-winning performance, screenplay, and toe-tapping music.

Emma Thompson's performance was stunning, and this nominated her for several awards, including The Golden Globe, Critics’ Choice Award, BAFTA among few others. Thomas Newman, the composer, was also nominated for an Academy Award for Best Musical Score. The trailer starts off like a light comedy but soon exposes its more intense and dramatic elements. The clips are well edited to garner interest in the story and proves to be an incredible cinematic experience.
