A 50 episode series that was telecast on DD National during 1996 to 1998 is the story of Jesus Christ. The serial was dubbed in many languages including Tamil, Hindi, and Telegu and loved by all. The series portrays Vijayachander as Jesus, who is worshipped by people as the very son of God.

Jesus came to earth to help the needy and punish the greedy. He with his 12 disciples did works no human being can think of. He cured thousands of people, took them out of their agony and gave them a better life. He changed mere water into wine and served people. He never lived with royalty, he always kept himself surrounded with peasants living like them and helping them. He always said to follow the path shown by him as he is the God’s child, and he can cure them all.

The child of Mary grew up showing miracles and gaining followers everywhere. He cured the disfigured and people with incurable diseases so as to prove himself. He was the Messiah, kind of an ultimate king to everyone. Romans were afraid that he is a threat to their kingdom and planned to kill him. In the last supper, Christ and the 12 disciples sat together and Christ announced that someone sitting with us will deceive us. They swore that they won't but Christ knew better. Judas so as to indicate the Romans kissed Jesus’ hand also known as the Judas kiss and Romans caught Jesus. They asked him to carry his own cross and then put nails on his hands and feet and crucified him. The agony and questions were visible on everyone's face. Public asked him if he is the son of God why can't he saves himself. So as to prove the power of God again Jesus resurrected after three days and told everyone to keep on believing in the God as he is the ultimate truth.

The show did every justice to the characters as it can make viewer sit in awe. It not only tells the story but also spreads the messages humanity has forgotten and also one of the reasons to be dubbed in several languages as it can cover a larger audience. It tells that no one can kill the truth.
