Tulasi is a Telugu language TV serial that aired on the channel Zee Telugu. It is dubbed from a Tamil serial. The serial is the story of a woman named Tulasi, who has experienced grief at a very young age and still managed to maintain a sunny disposition. Tulasi has lost her parents in a car accident. Her younger sister, Anjali, was in the car during the crash but managed to survive. Tulasi is in love with a guy named Manoj. Manoj belongs to a rich family. He lives with his grandparents, father (Venkatesh), mother (Mallika), younger brother (Arun), younger sister (Sumathi), aunt (Vyjayanthi), and aunt’s daughter (Divya).

Two years into their relationship, Manoj informs everyone in the house about his love for Tulasi and shows a picture of her. His family members like her and ask him to bring her home. When Tulasi visits his house, his grandparents, parents, and brother love her immediately. His aunt and sister, however, are jealous of all the attention she is receiving. Her sister, especially, is jealous that everyone in the house considers Tulasi more beautiful than her. At the end of the day, the family expresses their acceptance of her, but, according to their family tradition, they let the decision of marriage up to god. They write yes and no on two chits and place it in a box with the sculptures of gods and enchantments etched onto it.

When they pick a chit, it says no, and their marriage is called off. A few days later, Manoj’s grandmother finds the chits and sees that both of them had no written on them. Sumathi and Vyjayanthi have plotted it together, but no one found out who. Manoj’s grandfather declared that due to this error, the tradition no longer stands. They have decided to let Manoj and Tulasi get married. Manoj hurries to Tulasi to inform her of the good news but finds out that Anjali is in the hospital. The doctor says that the trauma of her parents dying is deeply embedded in Anjali’s brain. It comes out when triggered by the words related to death. She becomes manic, murderous, and suicidal. From then, Tulasi tries to keep her calm and checks her words before letting them out.

Vyjayanthi’s daughter, Divya, elopes and gets married to a mechanic. She goes to Tulasi’s house instead of hers. Tulasi tries to understand her situation and takes her to Manoj’s house to get the newly-weds the elders’ blessings. Everyone blames Tulasi thinking that she got them married. After that misunderstanding settles, the elders decide a date for Manoj and Tulasi’s wedding. Tulasi’s problems don’t end after the wedding. She is tested with something or the other every few days. With the responsibility of her sister’s wedding on her shoulders and Anjali’s mental condition, she has seen many sleepless nights. Anjali likes Arun, but Arun loves another woman named Pooja. Even with all these problems on her head, Tulasi held her head high, dealt with them, and came out of the other end considerably well.
