Kathryn Bostic is a music composer and singer. She was attracted to music from a very young age. She learned playing, piano at the age of 3. She is not only a composer but also a singer, songwriter and pianist. Her works include the work of director Justin Simien’s film, " Dear White People Click to look into! >> Read More... ".

She has also composed music for three Ava Du Vernay’s films, " Middle of Nowhere Click to look into! >> Read More... ." She also sang in the documentary, "Camera person," which debuted at Sundance. She composed the song, "Tres Osos y Una Playa," was performed at the Hear Now Music Festival on 24th April in Los Angeles.

She said that she was influenced by her mother to enter the singing career. She said that her mother was her teacher and she learned a lot from her and that her mother was a great teacher. Kathryn Bostic is popularly known for her work in film, TV and live theatre.

She has received many fellowships and awards like the prestigious, Sundance Time Warner Fellowship and the Sundance Fellowship for Feature Film Scoring and also the Sundance Skywalker Documentary Film and the BMI Fellowship.

She is a prominent part of the Academy of Motion Picture of Arts & Sciences and Television Academy of Arts and Sciences. She is the also Vice President of the Alliance for Women Film Composers. Kathryn is a very talented artist. Her mother is her inspiration.

She loves singing songs, and she enters another world by singing songs. She is a great composer and a songwriter and has done some great work. She has written songs for Broadway and worked with the award-winning playwright August Wilson on GEM OF THE OCEAN and several other productions of his last play RADIO GOLF, as well as with the Mark Taper production of JOE TURNER’S COME AND GONE directed by Phylicia Rashad.

Because she collaborated with Mr. Wilson, she was said to do the PBS American Masters program “August Wilson – The Ground on Which I Stand.” The reflection on the documentary of Mr. Wilson’s career aroused her to compose “The August Wilson Symphony”.

In extension to her work with August Wilson, Kathryn’s work on Broadway includes BENGAL TIGER AT THE BAGHDAD ZOO with Robin Williams Robin Williams is a legendary actor and comedian. >> Read More... , by Pulitzer Prize finalist Rajiv Joseph. Her work in music and ambient textures in BENGAL TIGER, gave her a Drama Desk win in the Sound Design category for this work.

She had been nominated for several other awards including the Ovation Award, NAACP Theatre Award, and a Drama Desk nominee for “Outstanding Music in a Play.” As a solo artist, she has toured a lot in festivals and venues such as The Copenhagen Jazz Festival, Ronnie Scott’s, Birdland in Tokyo and Osaka Blue Note, and The Pori Jazz Festival. Also as a vocalist, Kathryn has recorded and has performed with many popular artists such as Nas, Ryuichi Sakamoto, and David Byrne.
