Jessica Henwick

Jessica Yu Li Henwick is a distinguished actress and writer of the English film industry. She is acclaimed as the first actress from the East Asian background to play the front-runner in a British television series. She won several awards in 2016 and 2017 for her recently released short film The Heart of the Forest. She is also praised for her role as Nymeria Sand from the famous T.V. series Game of Thrones, HBO. Jessica Henwick was born and brought up in Surrey, England. She was raised by her Singaporean-Chinese mother and Zambian-English father, Mark Henwick, who himself is a famous author of the Bite Back novel series. She studied acting at Redroofs Theatre School and the National Youth Theatre.

Around June 2009, Henwick was chosen as the senior lead cast for the character of Bo, published by BBC, named Spirit Warriors (a children adventure series). She got a huge appreciation for her performance from Allan Radcliffe, theater critic for the Times in Scotland. Allan Radcliffe admired her work as “excellent” and “understated”.

A British national daily praised her effort by writing that she captures the sense of adolescent righteousness, passion, and confusion of a girl trying to create order in an unfair universe, with tremendous physical presence. She was also acknowledged by Joyce McMillan (theater critic) who quoted her work as “as outstanding as Leo”. In the subsequent months, she was elected to a role of Jane Jeong Trenka in the theater, Obsession: Dark Desires published in January 2014. Henwick also played a role in Silk as the new barrister.

The series got many million views. She repeated her role for the Silk series after the spin off radio series Silk: The Clerks Room. She also got featured in Inspector Lewis as a teenage student at Oxford. Henwick’s career touched greater heights soon after joining the HBO series Game of Thrones in 2015.
