English Producer Paris Barclay

Paris Barclay born in Chicago Heights, Illinois in 1956, attended the prestigious La Lumiere School on a scholarship and was one of the first African American students to have studied there. He studied at Harvard University before entering the professional world. He was a copywriter for a brief period at an advertising agency, after which he entered entrepreneurship and established his own business developing connections with various music artists. His talents quickly got him into the world of film and television and in 1996 he directed “Don’t Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood” which was Marlon Wayans’s debut feature film.

He became an executive producer and frequent director on the series “NYPD Blue” (ABC, 1993-2005). He also contributed to the critically acclaimed “In Treatment” (HBO, 2008-2010), where he worked as a director and producer. Barclay then took the job of executive producer and chief director for “Sons of Anarchy” (FX, 2008-2014). In 2013, he became the first-ever African American, openly gay individual to be elected President of the Directors Guild of America. He executed and produced the historical epic series “The Bastard Executioner” (FX, 2015) and the sports drama “Pitch” (Fox, 2016-17).

Barclay has directed over 160 episodes of television.
