Fareed Ahmed, a Pakistani filmmaker, was the son of acclaimed director ‘W. Z. Ahmed,’ a prolific filmmaker of the pre-partition era. W. Z. After completing his studies in Lahore, Pakistan, he moved to the US to train as a filmmaker. In the 1960s, Ahmed returned to Pakistan to pursue a career as a filmmaker.

Ahmed also worked as an actor in the Canadian television series ‘9B,’ which released in 1988. Ahmed portrayed Dr. Khan in the episodes of the show, namely Accident and Nomination. The series starred actors like ‘Robert Wisden,’ ‘John Bayliss,’ ‘Melanie Miller,’ and ‘Elizabeth Beeler.’ The successful show was nominated at Gemini Awards for Best Drama Series, Best Direction in a Dramatic Series, etc. The filmmaker-cum-actor also starred in the 1987 Canadian television series ‘Street Legal,’ that aired on CBC TV. The series has the credit of being the longest-running one-hour drama on Canadian television. Ahmed portrayed Judge Benet in the episodes Soul Custody, Without Prejudice, and The Bracelet, from 1989 to 1990.

Ahmed played a Sultan in another Canadian television series, ‘T and T.’ He featured in the episode The Little Prince Click to look into! >> Read More... of the show. The crime drama show stars ‘Mr. T,’ ‘David Nerman,’ ‘Alexandra Amini,’ and ‘Jackie Richardson.’ Ahmed also served as a director in a famed theatre of Delhi, while he later shifted base to Mumbai. The director has to his credit over 2500 performances of fifty plays conducted across India and internationally. He is best known for plays like Kambhakt Ishq, Kanjoos, Chandu Ki Chachi, and Kallu Nai MBBS, among others. The acclaimed filmmaker gave up his fight against cancer in 1993 in Lahore.
