works as a filmmaker and cinematographer in Mumbai, India. She started her cinematic journey when she was just 5-years-old.She received her cinematography degree from the Film and TV Institute of India (FTII) in 1998, where she also fell in love with documentaries and independent films. 'Laxmi and Me' (Nominee Silver Wolf IDFA 2007), one of more than a dozen documentaries produced by her, has gained widespread acclaim. She has filmed feature films over the past 20 years that cross over between the Global Art house ('The Fakir of Venice', 'Ranu') and the commercial Bollywood idiom (Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd). She has also filmed advertisements for well-known brands both in India and overseas. Deepti is one of the original members of the Indian Women Cinematographers Collective. She has produced a small number of music videos for independent performers in India. Her debut feature documentary, Shut Up Sona, got a Film Critics Guild Jury Special Mention for gender sensitivity and had its world premiere in October 2019 at MAMI in Mumbai.
