Dr Avneesh Singh is a retired Director-General and Chief Inspector Dock Safety at (DGFASLI) Directorate General Factory Advice Service and Labour Institutes, an attached office of the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India. After his graduation in Occupational Safety and Health at ITC-ILO University of Turin in Italy, he carried out in completing his post-graduation for further studies. He completed his PhD and research work at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, on “Mental Health of Industrial Workers” in 1989.He always used to dream about making films in his childhood.
He retired as Director General after 28 years of service for Govt of India at DGFASLI, which serves as the technical arm of the Ministry of Labour and Employment and formulates national policies on Occupational Safety and Health. During his service period, he made many films such as 'Safety in Construction Industry', ‘Safety in Ship Breaking Industry,' 'Prevention and Control of Silicosis', & 'Working with VDT'. Besides this, he has directed many movies on Occupational Safety and Health aspects. Some of his films include - “Surikshit Jeevan – Khushaal Jeevan”, “Safety in Welding” and “Safaibaaz - The Scavenger”.
