An Indian artist and filmmaker, Yashaswini Raghunandan, was born in 1984. In 2015, with the support of the INLAKS scholarship, she completed her graduation at the Royal College of Art, London. She has completed a Master’s in Visual communication. She got an MA degree under the program MA Information Experience Design in 2015 from the School of Communication. Afterward, she got a post-graduation diploma from the Social Communications Media Department in Sophia, Bombay, in 2016.

She received the People’s Archive of Rural India Fellowship in 2018. She wrote scripts for numerous long and short movies. Afterward, she developed an interest in the sound and narration field. She worked with her on three films under this project, which are Transience (27min), Presence (18min), and Distance (38min). She again collaborated with Ekta for a project and produced a film, Down The Rabbit Hole, which explores the landscape of Indian labor in all its textures.

This project got awarded by the India Foundation of Arts. Yashaswini has also collaborated with a dancer,  Preethi Athreya, for a dance film, Site Mapping. She has worked with a neuroscientist, Arianna Zuanazri, for a series, The Hidden Story. She has worked with her father to translate Atmanam ‘s Tamil movies into Kannada and English languages. She has received numerous awards, including the Royal College of Arts Sound Prize Award in 2014, the Toto Short Film Award in 2013, the International Leipzing Festival Award in 2013, and the Royal College of Arts Delta in 2014. She is known for movies like Distance, a short documentary released in 2014, I Invite You, and many more. Her popular directed film is That Cloud Never Left, which was a world premiere at IFFR in 2019. She has worked as an assistant director and researcher for independent filmmakers, from 2005 to 2009.
