Deval Samanta

Deval Samanta is a renowned director of photography known for his exceptional work in the Indian film industry. His birthplace is Kolkata, West Bengal, and he grew up there. Samanta pursued a degree in mass communication and videography from St. Xavier's College, Kolkata, before studying at the prestigious Film and Television Institute of India in Pune. In 2006, he completed his studies and qualified as a director of photography. After completing his studies, Samanta started his career as a gaffer in the camera and electrical department for several Bollywood films, including critically acclaimed films like Ghajini (2008) and 3 Idiots (2009). He worked in the same role for seven years before becoming a successful director of photography.

As a director of photography, Samanta has shot the second unit for several popular Bollywood films, including Tiger 3, Shamshera, and Kai Po Che.
