Sumit is an anchor cum Journalist. He has two sons. Other than being a Journalist, he enjoys Travelling, Gardening, and playing Snooker. In one of his interviews, he mentioned that Journalism runs in his blood. As his father was a former journalist at the ‘Akashvani,’ and in addition to this, his father was also linked to ‘Bhartiya Suchna Sewa.’ He is quite a popular journalist in India. He had a passion for the Indian Army, and he wanted to pursue his career in the Indian Army only. He even attempted a couple of times but failed.
He did his bachelor’s in Science but decided to go for Journalism for his post-graduation. After doing his post-graduation, he went for an internship with Jansatta. Later, he joined Zee news channel in 1997 for his career as an anchor and a journalist. Afterward, he worked with India's top-most news channels, like Aaj Tak and IBN 7. In November 2018, he joined ABP News as a Consulting Editor. He has received many prestigious awards in Journalism like, 'Dadasaheb Phalke Excellence Award’ in 2019; in 2012, he was honored with ‘Madhav Jyoti Puraskar’ as the best correspondent. On Kaun Banega Crorepati, he was seen many times as an expert.
