Pamella Bordes

Pamella Bordes is an Indian model and photographer. Pamela Chaudry Singh, as she was known earlier, was born in 1961 in India’s capital, New Delhi. Her childhood was spent engaged in many activities like horse riding, tennis, and swimming. She joined the Lady Sri Ram College, where she impressed her peers with her excellent academic records. In 1980, she approached the modeling agency, ‘Adwave,’ and began her career in fashion. She did her first gig with Bharat Leather Industries and went on to feature in other major brands like Hero Cycles and Oswal.

Her ambition and skill took her to the advertising and fashion industries of Mumbai in 1981. She worked as a hair-stylist at a place in the Oberoi Towers while also doing numerous photoshoots for popular magazines. Pamela received nationwide fame with her ‘Miss India’ title the next year. She climbed the next rung of the ladder at the Miss Universe pageant held in Peru. After the event, she began traveling to Paris, London, and other fashion capitals of the world. She went by the name of Pamella Bordes for a while after her short marriage to the record producer, Henri Bordes.

Her life was nothing short of a series of head-turning adventures and tabloid cover pictures. She also signed a large contract to star in a biographical film of her life. After riding the media waves in her prime, Pamela moved back to India and settled in Goa in 2010. She had studied photojournalism and art at the Parsons School of Design in New York, American University of Paris, France, and the International Center of Photography, New York. She rebooted her talents as a photographer in India and lives off her art. She is also a member of the Himalayan climbing club. With Yoga and good bookkeeping her company, she lives a simple hippie life in a small fishing village on the West coast.
