She was born into a family of artists, and that is why she was always attached to music. She started singing under the guidance of her father, Pt. Shankar Shreeshaillya Vairagkar, a famous vocalist and a student of Pt. Padmakar Kulkarni. She began her musical training at a very young age. She has taken advanced training from Smt. Arati Ankalikar of the Agra-Jaipur Gharana. All these personalities have played an essential role in making her a famous singer. She has a degree in Sangeet Alankar from Akhil Bharatiya Gandharv Mahavidyalaya, and an M. A. in Music from the University of Pune.

She is a classical singer. She has won many awards during her long career, including Yuva Kalakar Puraskar, Pune in 2000, Nadabrahma Puraskar, SNDT University, Mumbai in 1999. She has been singing professionally for the last 13 years. She is also good at contemporary music. She received the famous Ramkrishnabua Vaze award in 2015 from popular artist Ravi Paranjpe by Gandharva Mahavidyalaya. She has toured throughout India and the world. She has performed in many events, such as the event Parampara at J U Campus in Kolkata, a Hindustani classical vocal concert, and Sawai Gandharva Bhimsen Mahotsav 2017.
