Gaurishankar Raina is a multi-skilled individual who is a writer, producer, and translator. He was born in Srinagar on February 5th, 1954. He is highly skilled with extensive expertise in the broadcasting industry. He earned a Ph.D. in Film and Television Production from the prestigious Film and Television Institute in Pune. In addition to a postgraduate diploma in mass media, he obtained specialized instruction in television direction from both the Television instruction Centre in Berlin and the Asian Media Communication Centre in Singapore. During his academic career, he was part of different cultural and literary organizations.

Gaurishankar has extensive experience in television production, documentaries, and video production as a Producer at the Broadcasting Corporation of India. He has multiple endorsements in these domains, demonstrating his expertise and acknowledgment by peers and colleagues. Gaurishankar is an award-winning filmmaker and writer in addition to his work as Producer. He has written roughly 15 novels, including both original work and translations. "Ek Vahi Main" (a collection of short plays), "Palne Ka Put" (a Hindi translation of a Kashmiri drama), "SanchaarMadhyamLekhan" (media), and "Jab Ujala Hua" (a Hindi translation of Kashmiri stories) are among his significant works. His short tales, one-act plays, and articles have appeared in major national journals and newspapers.

He has gained prestigious recognition for his important efforts throughout his distinguished career. He received the First Translation Award from the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture, and Languages. He has also received the Lok Seva Prasaran Award, the Central Hindi Directorate's Hindi Writer Award, and various other notable prizes and honors, including the Suharad Samman by the Uttar Pradesh Hindi Sansthan. He has also directed 25 telefilms and single-act plays in Hindi, demonstrating his directorial abilities. In addition, he was in charge of conceiving and directing 200 episodes of Doordarshan's "SabadNirantar" program. He is also working as an advisor at the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts.
