She has completed her primary and secondary education at her local school in her hometown. Later, Shashi enrolled and graduated with her degree at Delhi University. She resides with her family in Mumbai, India. She married Satish Kaushik in 1985, on 12th May. They had their wedding in a private ceremony, witnessed by direct family members and close relatives. Satish was a well-renowned actor, comedian, director, and producer. The couple shared a son, Shanu Kaushik, who sadly passed in 1996 at the tender age of two years.

After this devastating incident, the couple had their daughter Vanshika Kaushik in 2012, through surrogacy, nearly twelve years after the demise of their beloved son. Tragically, however, Shashi's husband Satish took his last breath on 9th March 2023, due to a sudden heart attack, while on his way to the hospital.
