Meghna Kumar is a singer from Jhansi who participated in Indian Idol season five. She is visually impaired and overcame her physical disadvantages to participate in the contest. Her father is a banker and has helped her in every possible way. She has a younger brother. In 2004, doctors had told her that she would not be able to see. She thought of everything she could do and realized that only music could help her in her life. In music, there was no need for vision; and one just needed a suitable talent and a suitable person to guide you. For the last six years, she has been taking classical lessons from guruji Sri Samir Bhalerao. In her family, she is the only musician. All the other members are employed in the education field. She also learned to play table, although it was tough for her because she could not see. In the past, she has also performed bhajan and ghazal shows.
