Dr. Rita Dev is a renowned Hindustani classical singer, who started her musical journey under Guru Nirmal Acharjee at an early age. She completed her master's in music from Banaras Hindu University and did her doctorate under the eminent personality Prof. Chittaranjan Jyotishi of Gwalior Gharana. She was fortunate enough to learn light classical music from the legend Late. Pt. Mahadev Prasad Mishra, of Banaras Gharana. Being the disciple of the 'Queen of Thumri', Padma Vibhushan Vidhushi Dr. Girija Devi, she focuses on both classical and semi-classical genres.
She has performed all around India and has created her own space in the musical field. She is an 'A ' graded artiste of the All-India Radio. She has received many prestigious awards like Pt. Omkarnath Thakur Award, Swara Ratna, and Sangeet Ratna. Dev is now a professor and the head of the department of music at Agra university.
