Amalendu Chakraborty was a well-known Hindi writer in the field of English Literature. He was born on 31st December, 1934 in the state Digboi at Assam. He was born inBritish India. He studied at Boubazar High School. Later on, he studied at the Central Calcutta College. He was a student of Bengali in the University of Calcutta. He started his career as a teacher and taught at Romikanta Institution, Hooghly. He also taught at Khidderpore Academy. He wrote stories like Abiroto Chenamukhin 1986 and Grihe Grantora in 1987. He also earned great fame by writing the novels like Goshtibarir Jibonjapan in 1999, Radhasundari 1st in 1996 and 2nd in 1997. He also wrote Chaad Manashar Jot in 2010. Amalendu Chakraborty was also a popular producer of Ek Din Pratidin which was of duration one hour, thirty-five minutes in 1979.

He also produced the films Ek Din Surya in 1973 and Akaler Sandhane in 1981. Akaler Sandhane was a film about a famine which killed five million Bengalis in 1943. In the year he achieved Narashimbha Purashkar for Sajjiban which was a Delhi University Initiative. He also won the state- instituted Bankim Purashkarfor Golap Sundari in 1987. He died of brief illness, at the age of seventy-three on fifteenth June, 2009. Chakraborty is survived by his wife and son.
