Ishani Banerjee is a writer best known for the movie Aligarh. She did her schooling at Jamshedpur Public School and then went on to do her English Honours from the Indraprastha College for Women in Delhi. She completed a course in Advertisement and Public Relations from IIMC, Delhi. Ishani’s debut as a writer was the film Aligarh, which is the story of a homosexual professor Shrinivas Ramchandra Siras of Aligarh Muslim University. He was suspended for having consensual sex with a rickshaw puller. He won the case in the High Court in 2010 but was found dead in his house only a few days later. Ishani has also written scripts for TV series like Human (2022) and School of Lies (2023). She produced a short film called Bon Appetit in 2021.
