Vennela Ramarao

Vennela Ramarao is a Telugu actor based in Hyderabad, Telangana. He was born and brought up in Tanuku, Andhra Pradesh. He has studied Engineering in Bellary, Karnataka. Since childhood, he was interested in acting and films. He is a great mimicry artist who has an amazing talent of mimicking whoever he meets in his life. He used to entertain people by doing mimicry of his college professors during his college days.

So, he decided to approach him. After auditions, Vennela was offered to play the role of a Naxalite, who later dies in the movie. This marked his entry into the film industry.

After Sindhooram, Vennela got married and decided to focus on his personal life and family, so he moved to the USA and started working as a software engineer. He also worked as an assistant director for this movie. The film was a major success, but Vennela couldn’t return back to India due to his citizenship. Therefore, he had to do an NRI film Sangamam released in 2008.

During his visit to the USA, Vennela met popular director Seenu Vytla. Later, he called him to play Chitti Naidu’s father in the film Ready. Later, he played a small role in a 2011 released film, Dookudu.  He finally got a noticeable role in Its My Love Story (2011). Then, Vennela gave up his US citizenship and decided to pursue his film career seriously. His friends were also supportive and offered him a partnership in their software company so that he could work in films and, at the same time, make a living through engineering while staying in India.

In 2012, Vennela worked in the movie Eega but later missed a couple of opportunities in films like Vennela 1 ½ and Auto Nagar Surya. This made him desperate, and he started visiting all prominent offices. In the same year, he met Srikanth along with his student and actor Praveen who informed him about the auditions for his upcoming movie Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu. Vennela didn’t want to miss this opportunity so he went to give auditions for an advertisement that Srikanth was directing.

The auditions went on for 3 months and Srikant asked Vennela to narrate a tele-interview dialogue, which he narrated to him in four dialects - Srikakulam, Vijayawada, Telangana, and West Godari. Srikanth was impressed by his Vijayawada accent and asked Vennela to come up and properly portray the mannerisms and style of a typical Vijayawada youth. Srikanth loved his performance and finalized him for the role of Mahesh Babu’s friend.

The movie turned out to be a major hit and Vennela’s career started crystalising in the Telugu film industry.
