Srikanth Padmanabhan

Srikanth Padmanabhan is the President of Operations at Cummins. He was raised up in Chennai. He took a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering at the National Institute of Technology in Trichy, India. Then, he went to the Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa, to pursue a PhD in Mechanical Engineering. Therefore, he is a distinguished alumnus of his undergraduate institution. He also received the Professional Achievement Citation in Engineering (PACE) Award from Iowa State University’s College of Engineering. From Harward Business School, Srikanth Padmanabhan is a graduate of the Advanced Management Program. He is the sixth of seven children. His wife’s name is Usha Padmanabhan, and his daughter’s name is Megna Padmanabhan. 

Srikanth Padmanabhan joined Cummins over thirty years ago to build an innovative factory of the future. Throughout his career, he has worked at the intersection of markets & products, quality, and innovation. Srikanth Padmanabhan is a result-oriented global leader with a passion for effective communication, strategic clarity, recognition, and motivating future leaders. From September 1991 to December 1999, he worked as a business manager & operations manager at Cummins in Columbus. He worked in many manufacturing positions within Cummins Fuel Systems in Columbus, Indiana in progressive management positions. Srikanth Padmanabhan was then plant manager of Cummins Filtration’s largest plant in Cookeville, Tennessee for over two years. He managed the site of more than a thousand employees. After that, he worked as country manager of the Mexico Cummins Filtration operations from August 2002 to December 2003. 

Srikanth Padmanabhan was a managing director of Cummins Generator Technologies in Stamford, England for four years. He has worked as managing director of a division that manufactures the broadcast range of generators from 0.6kva to 30,000 kva and managed all aspects of the business. He was the president of the Engine Business, the largest of Cummins' four business segments (Apr 2016 – Dec 2023). Before becoming the president of Engine Business, Srikanth Padmanabhan served as vice president of the Engine Business. He led the heavy-duty, midrange, light duty markets that used engines from 50 HP to 650 HP. As the president of operations at Cummins, he led significant work that will define & drive improvements in how the company operates through the energy transition. He is also leading the critical areas of business operations & regions and ensuring the success of his company’s operational priorities.

Srikanth Padmanabhan is passionate about service to the community at large, industry, and the Asian/Pacific Islander community.  He serves on the board of directors for Leggett & Platt, Inc. (NYSE: LEG). He also sits on the board of directors for the Community Education Coalition in Columbus, Indiana, and the American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI). He is a member of the Board of Trustees for Columbus' Interfaith Council and the Board of Advisors for Indiana University-Purdue University Columbus. He sponsors two ERGs within Cummins, such as the South Asian Employee Resource Group and East Asian Employee Resource Group.
