During the film’s promotion, it was revealed that Aamir Khan was rejected after he auditioned. The talented director opened up about her decision not to cast Aamir in her latest film. Kiran Rao stated that they wanted to test Ravi Kishan, and her idea was to get the actor instead of Aamir. Since it is just a small film, they wanted to make it real and believable. Casting a big star like Aamir will add anticipation to the audience.
However, the director also revealed that Aamir had helped her with the casting. She believes that Ravi brings authenticity and depth to his performance during the audition, and they think he will perfectly fit the role.
Laapataa Ladies marks Kiran Kao’s second directorial venture. The film will be released on March 1.
