It was once a street lined with single screen theaters, and Kempe Gowda Road has in fact lost the majority of its landmarks. Now, as a matter of fact, the noted street in Bangalore is bracing up to lose one among the oldest establishments the theater of Kapali. The Kapali theater had a seating capacity of 1,465, and it started in the late 1960’s. It largely relied as the state’s cinema house. The theater’s owners have decided to sell the theater, and there are discussions with buyers.
If the deal works out, the noted theater will close shortly. It happens to be one among the few Cinerama theaters. In the early 1980’s a part of the theater collapsed when an adjacent building collapsed. There was casualty reported following the crash of the wall. A Kannada movie Chowka is presently being screened at Kapali. The theater will close after the movie finishes its run.
