The American movie All Is Lost Click to look into! >> Read More... hit the screens in 2013. The movie falls into the category of survival drama. J C Chandor directed the movie. Robert Redford One of the most remarkable voices in Hollywood cin >> Read More... is the movie’s star. The only cast in the movie is that of Robert. There are no dialogues in the movie. The movie All Is Lost happens to be the second venture for the director. The debutant venture Margin Call Click to look into! >> Read More... hit the screens in 2011. The movie has Robert floundering in the oceans, and there is no concrete jungle in the movie.

Plot: A lonely man (enacted by Robert Redford) is marooned in the sea with his sailboat having a close shave with capsizing. The untoward incident is discovered by the man as soon as he wakes up the next morning. There is a hole on in his sailboat. The man fixes the problem, but he realizes to his horror that many of the equipment and radio facilities have gone dead. Danger looms ahead as the failure of sophisticated equipment disorients him. Also, communication is impossible leaving everything paralyzed. As another impediment, a storm rages and he is left to drift along with the ocean currents. The emergency rations are fast depleting. Also, a storm may be looming on the horizon. Possibilities of survival are bleak, and he could be saved only if he enters the shipping lane and is spotted by other ships.

Robert Redford does his role sincerely, and there is no pretty heroism about him. The audiences can sense his screen presence as just another human fighting for survival. Death is inevitable, but not many people accept it when death is near. The non-acceptance is obvious in Robert Redford’s face. Indeed, he has done it well. The director’s touch is very obvious in the movie. It demands a lot of patience for the audience to watch the movie till finish. But, a few people may find the scenes and visuals very captivating. The director has thrown light on the life and death struggle that is there in everybody’s life.

Verdict: The audiences could opt to view the CD release of the movie rather than going for the weekend spoiler.
