PLOT:

Billy Taggart had been arrested for the murder of a rapist, Mikey Tavarez, but due to manipulation of the original proof by his trusted fellows, he walked free. Later, he became an investigator with his secretary, Katy Bradshaw, who are behind old clients for old payment of their fees. Billy has a girlfriend, who is the sister of an ex-rape victim, and who wants to become an actress. His business has almost become bankrupt, when Mayor Hostetler calls him in and assigns him a new investigation on his wife, whom he believes is having an affair with his rival, Paul Andrews. The Mayor offers Billy $25000 for the investigation, to which he agrees. Soon after, he finds Paul Andrews dead on the street, and then the plot darkens as he finds himself double-crossed by Hostetler.

ANALYSIS:

The movie, “Broken City” is the single direction of Allen Hughes. The film revolves around the ex-crappy cop who gives up his job as a cop after he almost went behind bars, because of killing a freed rapist-murderer. He takes up being a private investigator while living with his girlfriend who aspires to be an actress. He is blocked down with insufficient money and has almost gone bankrupt when Mayor Hostetler offers him $25000 to spy on his wife. He believes she’s having an affair with his rival, Paul Andrews. Instantly, Billy takes up the case and starts the investigation. Amidst all this commotion, elections are around the corner. Hostetler is scared that his rival Paul, who is a favorite of all, would defeat him. The story is filled with action and the revenge plot.

You can go for the action-package.
Mark Wahlberg’s acting is good.

WHAT’S NOT THERE?

There’s not much extra in this movie, yet another cop starrer.

VERDICT:

The ones who love action, crime and thrillers can go for it this weekend. The plot and the revenge after the betrayal with action scenes can keep you pinned until the end. Though high expectancy should be avoided, as the promises cannot be met.
