Plot

Sidonie-Gabrielle Colette is a very young woman from a rural area. In the late nineteenth century, she started having affairs with Willy. Willy introduced her as his bride in front of the socialites. Willy calls himself a “literary entrepreneur.” He gives employment to ghostwriters. But he is having lack of content. The lack of content makes him uncomfortable. His taste is luxurious. But the lack of content can not able to meet his expensive expenses. Colette works for his correspondence, while these ghost writers write articles for him. Once, Colette saw Willy with a prostitute. This led to separation in their relationship. But Willy somehow brings Colette back. Colette tells her school story. Because of lack of content, Willy tells her to make a novel on her school stories. What will Colette do? Will Willy be able to satisfy his luxurious taste? The rest of the story deals with it.

Star Performance

Keira Knightley did an incredible performance in the film. Her journey to be a writer and go against her husband was brilliant. Her detailing of the character was outstanding. Her acting and dialogue delivery was perfect. One would love her after watching this movie. She that much impact she made in the whole film. Dominic West did a fantastic performance in the movie. He shows the nature of a greedy person. His acting was factual and natural. One would hate him after watching this movie. That much impact he made in the film. Alysha Hart, Fiona Shaw, and Robert Pugh did a performed remarkably in the movie. All the other actors were as good as the main lead actors.

Analysis

The film's storyline was great, calming, interesting, and entertaining –the film focus on the central theme of greed. The film struggles of women in the late nineteenth century. The film is a biographical film. The film is inspired by the life of French Writer Colette. The film shows a late nineteenth-century revolutionary feminist writer's difficulties. The film uses a new concept. The film shows the discrimination faced by women in the late nineteenth century. The calming nature of the movie is maintained from the start till the end. The storyline in the film was interesting. The direction, cinematography, and costume design was perfect in the movie. The costume of every single character were incredible. The journey of Colette is well portrayed in the film. The background music and songs play a significant role in the movie. The dialogues were excellent.
