Elias Koteas is a Greek-Canadian actor, born on 11th March 1961, in Montreal, Canada. His father worked for the Canadian National Railways as a mechanic, and his mother used to manufacture and design hats. His parents belonged to Greek descent, from the cultural region in Greece named Mani. He even speaks French and Greek fluently. In 1981, he left the Vanier College in Montreal, to attend the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, New York. He graduated from there in the year 1983 and became a member of its Production Company soon after his graduation. He pursued acting at the New York’s Actors Studio, under his mentors Ellen Burstyn and Peter Masterson.
