1. Melissa McCarthy

Melissa McCarthy is an eminent actress, writer, producer and also a comedian. She was born as Melissa Ann McCarthy on August 26, 1970 at Plainfield, Illinois in U.S. to Michael and Sandra McCarthy. She was raised Catholic and belongs to an Irish lineage. She studied at St. Francis Academy in Illinois. She started her career as a stand-up comedian. She is a graduate student of The Groundlings in California. Melissa is the cousin of actress, Jenny McCarthy.


She was debuted in television in an episode of the comedy sitcom, Jenny which stars Jenny McCarthy. In 1998, she made her first feature film, Go and bagged the role of Sandra. Subsequently, she has done films like Charlie’s Angels, The Life of David Gale, Drowning Mona and more. She also voiced the character of DNAmy in three episodes of the animated series, Kim Possible. In year 2000, she appeared as Sookie St. James in the comedy-drama series, Gilmore Girls. In 2007, she was starred as Margaret opposite with Ryan Reynolds in the fantasy psychological film, The Nines. Later, she was also featured in the independent comedy films like Pretty Ugly People, Just Add Water and more. From year 2007 to 2009, she essayed the role of Dena in the television sitcom, ‘Samantha Who?’ on ABC. She also made a guest star appearance on Lifetime’s Rita Rocks and in the medical drama series, Private Practice in year 2010. Later on, she also donned supporting roles in the romantic-comedy films, The Back-up Plan and Greg Berlanti’s Life as We Know It.


In 2010, she was cast in the lead role as Molly Flynn, a teacher who attempts of losing weight in the television sitcom, Mike & Molly opposite with Billy Gardell. She earned many nominations for her role in the film and won the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series at the Primetime Emmy Awards in 2011. Her breakthrough performance happened in the romantic comedy film, Bridesmaid which stars Kristen Wiig. She received many nominations for her role as Megan Price and earned the Best Supporting Actress awards at the Las Vegas Film Critics Society and in New York Film Critics Online. She also won the Best comedic Performance award at MTV Movie Awards and the Best Gut-Wrenching Performance along with the other casts. In 2011, Melissa hosted the show, Women in Film Crystal + Lucy Awards. Later, she has done supporting roles in the spin-off comedy film, This is 40, in the romantic-comedy film, Knocked Up and the comedy film, The Handover Part III.


Melissa hosted the late-night show, Saturday Night Live for three times and received nominations at the Primetime Emmy Award. In 2013, she played as Diana/Dawn Budgie in the box-office crime comedy film, Identity Thief which also stars Jason Bateman. Later, she also acted in the buddy cop comedy film, The Heat opposite with Sandra Bullock. The film grossed $229-Million internationally. Melissa is the co-writer of the script for the comedy film, Tammy which was released on July 2014. She is also the producer of the CBS pilot which starred Ben Falcone. She played as Maggie Bronstein in the 2014’s comedy film, St. Vincent and also starred as Susan Cooper in the upcoming action comedy film, Spy. 

Melissa got married to Ben Falcone on October 8, 2005 and they have two daughters namely, Vivian and Georgette. They are the founder of On the Day, a production company who produced the film, Tammy and is set to produce more films in the coming 2015.

She is one of the best living women legends in Hollywood history. Known for her classic and dramatic depiction of characters. Born as Susan Abigail Tomalin on October 4, 1946 in Queens, New York. First landed a role for the movie “Joe” in 1970, followed by the movie “Lady Liberty” a story of couple that is entangled with worker protests and have a life in Italy. She also played the roles Elizabeth in the movie “The Apprentice”, as Sally for the movie “Atlantic City” a story of a gangster and wife of a drug dealer in a corrupt city entangled with love, drugs, money and danger. She also appeared in the movie “The Witches of Eastwick” a story of three women that their wishes were granted with return and find themselves along with a mysterious man. She made a reprising role as Louise Sawyer for the movie “Thelma & Louise” a story of waitress and housewife that killed a rapist and run for their lives using a famous car. She also casted in the movie “The Client”, a story of a young boy defended by a lawyer after witnessing a mob shootout and uses him as a weapon to take them down. She played the role of a nun in the movie “Dead Man Walking” as Sister Helen a story of a man that was convicted and sentenced to death row.

3. Kathy Bates

Kathy Bates is a prominent American actress and film director. She was born as Kathleen Doyle ‘Kathy’ Bates on June 28, 1948 at Memphis, Tennessee. She is the youngest daughter of Langdon Doyle Bates and Bertye Kathleen. She studied at White Station High School and later moved to Southern Methodist University with a major in Theatre. She is a member of Alpha Delta Pi, a popular sorority. In year 1970, Kathy moved to New York to pursue her career in acting. 

She started acting in the Broadway and some of her appearances includes the Fifth of July by Lanford Wilson and ‘Come Back to the Five and Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean’ by Robert Altman. She is also part of the ‘night, Mother; the play that won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1983. Kathy got a nomination in the Tony Award for her performance in the play. She also appeared in the ‘Frankie and Johnny in the Clair De Lune’ by Terrence McNally. This play is one of the most successful appearances of Kathy in the New York productions.


Her first feature film was from the movie, Taking Off in 1971 where she played as Bobo Bates, an audition singer who sang the ‘Even Horses Had Wings’. In 1978, she was also starred as Selma Darin in Ulu Grosbard’s Straight Time.


She was debuted in television through the soap opera, The Doctors on NBC, where she played as Phyllis. From the year 1983 to 1984, Kathy acted in the soap, All My Children as a prisoner. Afterwards, she bagged the role of Evelyn Maddox on ABC’s One Life to Live. 

In 1990, she played as a stenographer in the very popular action film, Dick Tracy. She made an appearance in The Morning after and essayed the role of Ruth in the film drama, Summer Heat. Kathy made a guest-starred appearance in the legal drama series, L.A. Law before she donned the role of Annie Wilkes, an obsessed fan of the author, Paul Sheldon (played by James Caan) in the psychological thriller film, Misery in 1990, which was adapted from the 1987 novel of Stephen King. Kathy received her first Best Actress award in the 63rd Academy Awards and in 1990 Golden Globe Awards. Shortly after, she was also starred as Evelyn Couch, a unhappy housewife in the comedy-drama film, Fried Green Tomatoes in 1991 which was based on Fannie Flagg’s Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Café novel. 

In 1995, she played the main lead role in the drama thriller film, Dolores Clairborne which is based on Stephen King’s novel. She was also part of the biggest and blockbuster film, Titanic where she bagged the role of Molly Brown. The actress did her part successfully in the drama film, Primary Colors in 1998. The film is also an adaptation of the novel entitled, Primary colors: A Novel of Politics, from which Joe Klein (a political journalist) recounts his encounter during the Presidential campaign in year 1991 to 1992. She got nominated at the Academy award for Best Supporting Actress. In 2002, she played as Roberta Hertzel in the box-office film, About Schmidt where she was also nominated for Best Actress in a Supporting Role at the Oscars. In 2006, she played as Sue in the romantic comedy film, Failure to Launch opposite with Terry Bradshaw where they played as Matthew McConaughey’s parents. She also made a uncredited cameo appearance as Rae Flowers in the miniseries, The Stand which is also based on Stephen King’s novel.


In 1996, Kathy was starred as Helen Kushnick, the manager of Jay Leno (played by Daniel Roebuck) on HBO’s The Late Shift. She got nominated eight times for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie at the Emmy Awards for her outstanding performance in the film. She also got different awards at the Golden Globe, Satellite Award and Screen Actors Award. In 1999, Kathy played as Miss Agatha, the merciless owner of an orphanage in the musical comedy film, Annie from which she also got nominations at the Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild Award and Primetime Emmy Award for the same category. In 2005, she essayed the role of Helena Mahoney in the television film, Warm Springs. In the same year, she was starred in the Ambulance Girl where she received a nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or Movie at the Primetime Emmy Award for doing the role of Jane Stern.


The actress also did 10 episodes of the drama series, Six Feet Under where she got another Emmy Award nomination for the category of Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series in 2003. In the sitcom, 3rd Rock from the Sun, Kathy played as Charlotte Everly where she got nominated as Outstanding Guest actress in a Comedy Series in 1999. In the same year, she received another nomination in Dash & Lilly for the category of Outstanding Directing in a Miniseries or Movie. She made a recurring appearance in the comedy series, The Office. 

Kathy forged an astounding directorial career in the early 90’s. She directed episodes on television series like Everwood, Six Feet Under, OZ, Homicide: Life on the Street and more. She was also the director of Dash and Lilly and Ambulance Girl. In 2006, she starred and directed the film, Have Mercy along with Melanie Griffith. In year 2008, Kathy acted again with Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet (her co-stars in Titanic) in the drama film, Revolutionary Road which is based on Richard Yates’ novel. In 2011, she was starred as Harry Korn in the comedy series, Harry’s Law; the show was cancelled after a year. In 2012, she made a guest appearance as Charlie Harper’s ghost in the episode, Why We Gave Up Women in the TV sitcom, Two and a Half Men. This results to her winning as the Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series at the Primetime Emmy Award. In 2013, Kathy started to appear in the third season of the horror series, American Horror Story: Coven. She played the role of Delphine LaLaurie, who was buried alive but brought back in the modern world after some years. She returned in the fourth season, American Horror Story: Freak Show and bagged the role of Ethel Darling.


The actress was diagnosed with ovarian cancer and she successfully battled with it. Last September of 2012, she also revealed that she also had a breast cancer and she underwent a double mastectomy.

However, she was raised in Dayton, Ohio, by her mother Macy Brooks Putnam, a former actress and her dad Jervis Spencer Janney, Jr., a jazz musician and reality developer. Sandra Oh is a Canadian American actress. On 20 July 1971, in Nepean, Ottawa, Canada, the actress was born. She is the daughter of a middle-class father Jeon Young-Nam oh a South Korean immigrant and biochemist and mother John Su oh a business person. Sandra has two siblings Grace Oh and Ray Oh. She began acting and practising ballet at the age of four to correct her pigeon- toes stance. Oh played The Wizard of Woe in a musical class called The Canada Goose, when she was ten. She formed the environmental club BASE (Borden Active Students For the Environment) at Sir Robert Borden High School, and she led the campaign against the usage of styrofoam cups. While in high school she was elected as president of the student council. She has a knack for playing the flute. She is purely an artist.
