Plot: Veronica is the daughter of a private sleuth Keith Mars, who was once a police officer. Veronica Mars graduates from a popular law school, and plans to pursue law. She departs from the fictitious town of Neptune, situated in California, since she did not want to be among the bad elements in Neptune. She is about to get into a life that she much dreamt of, as a lawyer in Truman-Mann and Associates. She gets into a relationship and remains stable in that. Then, suddenly, as a bolt from the blue, she gets a call from her ex-boyfriend Logan. Logan works as Lieutenant in the United States Navy. He is slapped with charges of murdering his girlfriend Carrie Bishop. Carrie Bishop was seen dead under suspicious circumstances in her bath tub, and Logan was lying unconscious in the vicinity of crime. Veronica desires that Logan gets a good lawyer, but she smells the rat as she sees how her boyfriend’s case is being handled. Veronica, who had been thinking that her life as a sleuth was over, finds herself sucked back into the profession of amateur detective, as she feels she needs to help Logan. The rest of the movie unfolds in a fashion which does not befit the television series.
After watching the television series, the audiences might be drawn to the theatres with eagerness. But, the movie falls short of their expectations as Veronica does not handle a case which befits her caliber. The show, which had been broadcast in the small screen, drew many fans, who contributed to production of the silver screen version of the series. That is why the story has been woven such that Veronica returns to the town of Neptune, nine years after she left the town pledging that she would never return.
Verdict: The flick carries resemblance to the movie ‘I Know What You Did 10 Summers Ago’. And, the movie may have more downloads in the internet than a good box-office collection.
