The American movie Winter’s Tale hit the screens in 2014. The movie is about the supernatural. The movie is intertwined with fantasy, mystery, and romance. The movie draws inspiration from a novel by Mark Helprin. Akiva Goldsman Akiva Goldsman is an American television writer, f >> Read More... has done the screenplay and direction of the movie. The movie happens to be a debutant effort for the director. The movie has important actors as Russel Crowe, Collin Farrer, Jennifer Connely and Jessica Brown Findlay Jessica Brown Findlay is an English actress born o >> Read More... . The movie did not get desired results from critics and failed in the box-office. Colin Farrel has done the role of Peter Lake in the movie; Jessica Brown does Beverly Penn, and Russel Crowe does the role of Pearly Soames.

Plot: The plot goes back in time to the earlier half of 20th century. Expert thief Peter Lake gets into the Central Park mansion on a robbery attempt. But, he is taken in by the beauty Beverly Penn. But, the romance does not go on smoothly. Beverly Penn is already dying of a consuming disease. To add up to the woes, Peter has a demonic father who stands in his way and does what he could to destroy Peter.

Russell Crowe “Are you not entertained?” This is his notorious B >> Read More... has given an impressing performance and appears intimidating on screen. But, he adds to a lot of fun in the movie. The chemistry between Findlay and Farrell seems to have worked out well. However, Farrell needs better movies than this to have a rise in his career. The entire movie seems to have been messed up. One could hardly make out anything from the movie. There is no rhyme or reason for the events happening in the movie. The movie has drawn inspiration from a novel and tries to emphasize that miracles still happen and could change one’s course of life for the better. But, a slipshod screenplay has wiped out the very essence of the movie. The visual beauty is commendable, and the cinematography by Caleb Deschanel deserves credit.

Verdict: The movie happens to be the one that needs to be skipped when considering other weekend entertainment.
