Priyadarshan Soman Nair is a famous Director, Producer and screen writer. He is awarded the Padma Shri Award by the government in 2012. He has worked for Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi cinema in his career since 1984. Although he began his career from Malayalam movies, he is recognized for his comedy films in Bollywood. He is an extremely versatile director and has films in almost every genre. Priyadarshan was born in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. 2. Paresh Rawal

The Padma Shri award winner who shot to fame with his role in the 1986 blockbuster film ‘Naam’, which told the story of a poor family that struggled to make ends meet, was born on 30th May 1950 in Mumbai. He completed his graduation from Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics, Mumbai. Rawal made his debut in the film industry through the movie ‘Holi’ in the year 1984 but it was his next film, ‘Naam’, which brought him all the fame and attention as an actor. Success followed him, and he acted in over hundred films during 1980s and 1990s. Such was his versatility, that he has done roles from lead actor to Main villain. He did the role of main villain in most of his movies and he was considered as a character actor during those days. 


The 1994 hits ‘Woh Chokri’ and ‘Sir’ won him the national award for best supporting actor and ‘Sir’ won him the Filmfare award for best comedian. He received nationwide recognition as villain through his negative roles in Telugu blockbusters like ‘Kshana Kshanam’, ‘Money’ etc. He was considered as a character actor until his role in the 2000 hit ‘Hera Pheri’ which gave a turn in Paresh Rawal’s career. ‘Hera Pheri’ told the story of a witty Marathi landlord who rents his apartment out to bachelors. He started taking either lead or the main protagonist roles in many of the mainstream Bollywood films that followed. Rawal received wide recognition and appreciation for his role in ‘Hera Pheri’, and his acting in the film was considered as the major contributing factor to the movie’s success. Many comedy numbers followed and Paresh Rawal’s roles in all those movies got the best feedback. 


 He is also a renowned actor in Gujarati drama industry, and his latest play ‘Dear Father’ was a hit. He has also produced several successful TV soaps including ‘Teen Bahuraniyaan’ of ‘Zee TV’. Paresh Rawal is also into politics and won the parliament election from Ahmedabad East constituency to become the Member of Parliament for BJP in 2014. He is married to the 1979 Miss India and actress Swaroop Sampat and has two sons, Aditya and Aniruddh.

3. Om Puri

Om Rajesh Puri is one of the widely noted senior actors in the Indian film industry and he was born on 18th October 1950 in Patiala, Punjab. He is one of the few Bollywood actors to act in mainstream commercial English movies. The alumnus of National School of Drama was also a classmate of renowned actor Naseeruddin Shah of the 1973 class.

He started his movie career in 1976 with the Marathi film ‘Ghashiram Kotwal’ directed by K.Hariharan. The movie was based on a play with the same name and it got success both commercially and critically. His career graph saw the coming of critically acclaimed art films such as ‘Bhavni Bhavai’, ‘Sadgati’, ‘Ardh Satya’ etc. and he was one of the major stars to do art films at that time along with well-known actors like Naseeruddin Shah, and Shabana Azmi. His reputation sky rocketed with his unconventional roles in many films during the 80s such as ‘Aakrosh’ and ‘Disco dancer’. Puri became famous for his versatility and personality, and went on to act in films in many domestic and foreign industries. Be it Hollywood blockbusters like ‘Gandhi’ or ‘Charlie Wilson’s War’ or regional hits like ‘A.K. 47’, Puri left a unique zeal on every role he did.

If he was known for his personality and his unconventional roles in the movies, he proved the world that he could handle any kind of role with an envious ease with the TV series ‘Kakkaji Kaheen’ and ‘Sutradhaar’ where he did comedy characters. He was honoured by the government of India with Padma Shri award and he also received ‘Order of The British Empire’. He is currently working for the movie ‘Chapekar Brothers’ in which he will be playing Bal Gangadhar Tilak.

Nana Patekar is a popular Indian actor who was born in 1st January in 1951. He is also a successful filmmaker and writer simultaneously. He was born in the place named Murud-Janjira which is located in Raigad district in Maharashtra. His parents are Dinkar Patekar and Sanjana Patekar. Nana Patekar studied Applied Arts at the Sir J.J Institute in Mumbai. From his college life, he was attracted to acting and he did attend the inter-college dramatics. He also loved to sketch. His natural acting is always entertaining to the people. As a successful filmmaker, he is the creator of the famous film “Prahar: The Final Attack” in which the glamour queen Madhuri Dixit was the leading heroine. He is also a little bit involved in playback music. His upcoming movies are “Saamna”, “Welcome Back” and “Yahan Ke Hum Sikandar”.

Those who follow Bollywood movies are accustomed to the character ‘Iqbal,’ which follows the story of a mute and deaf, rookie Indian bowler’s attempt to achieve recognition, and be one of the prestigious XI, that represent the country in cricket. The character, which goes by the same name of Iqbal, was portrayed by none other than Shreyas Talpade, who is an Indian actor. Shreyas is a Mumbaikar, who pursued his schooling from Shree Ram Welfare Society. The inception of his career began with Marathi television serials, and numerous stage plays across the state. Shreyas was famous for his role in the Marathi soap opera, Aabhal Maaya. In the year 1997, he pocketed a crucial role as a child actor in the Zee TV produced television serial “Woh.” Talpade played the role of a young Ashutosh Gowarikar. He is also ostentatious for his roles in the mini soap operas produced by Adhikari Brothers, and his role as “Tejas,” in the Damini. The character of Tejas, transformed Talpade, into a well-known Marathi household name. Shreyas began his movie venture with cameos in Nidaan, Raghu More, and Aankhen. He pocketed a major role in the Marathi horror-comedy, “Pachadlela.” The movie catapulted Talpade’s career, and he managed to attract the attention of various directors in the Marathi film industry. In 2005, he auditioned for the role of a deaf and mute, young cricket aspirant in Nagesh Kukunoor’s film titled “Iqbal.” Talpade reportedly stated that he honestly didn’t expect to grab the lead role in Kukunoor’s venture. The movie was a huge hit at the box office, and Shreyas was also nominated for a Filmfare Award in the Debut category.
