Plot

The movie tries to infuse an anthology of three loosely connected stories that delve into the complexities of relationships, self-discovery, and identity in the backdrop of the digital age. The first plot revolves around a transgender person who is struggling to stay afloat in a reality show titled Truth Ya Naach hosted by Anu Malik, Tusshar Kapoor Son of a legendary Filmstar Jeetendra Kapoor and b >> Read More... , and Sophie Chowdhry alongside Mouni Roy, who is in a cameo appearance. The second plot is about a lady, a metro station vendor who provides transgender janitors as a social service. One of her workers gets raped, and a lot of unpleasant secrets tumble out in the bargain. The third segment is about a school-going guy, who moonlights as a gaming influencer and gets framed in an unjust deep fake case.

There are many cameos in this film. Mouni did a fine job as the host, and among the judges, Anu Malik shines as he is given some hysterical scenes to enact. Swastika Mukherjee is cool. Abhinav Singh deserves special mention for his acting. Swastika Mukherjee impresses. However, Tusshar Kapoor and Sophie Choudhary’s cameo hardly have any significant impact on the film’s story. The rest of the cast is okay in whatever footage they have.

Analysis

After his 2010 Love Sex Aur Dhokha, Dibakar Banerjee returns to raise awareness about the socially sensitive topics of sex mms, unconventional love, honor killings, sting operations, and more. This time, he dives into the spirit that tackles the menace of social media and the digital world, the dark and gloomy addiction of “Likes,” “Shares,” and “Subscribe”. The film depicts ambitious youngsters’ obsession with fame due to which they fall prey to monetary and other temptations. However, the bizarre way of narration induces nothing but a headache. The film is a seemingly endless and mindless compilation of visuals of webcams, TV shows, and videos that lack coherence and hardly interest the viewers. Transgender play a crucial role in this film that purports to take up their cause. However, great ideas don’t make hit films, great scripts do. The three stories are littered, confusing, lacking a flow, and underwhelming and undeserving in terms of story. What’s There?

The intention behind making this film is the only good thing to talk about.
The passable performances by a few actors clench the audience for a while.

What’s Not There?

Everything else is capped by humongous disrespect for the audience, a trait Dibakar Banerjee has displayed in almost every movie that is claimed to be a ‘success.’
Lack of Character development is another flaw of the film.
Inefficient camera work reduces the Interest of viewers.

Verdict

This excruciatingly impoverished cinematic product in the name of daring evolved cinema is nothing less than torture for the audience. In the name of progressive and quirky cinema, the director delivers an unbearable experience with more plotholes than the total plots in the film. There is no love, forced and cringe sex and the dhoka (fraud) is what the audience feels after watching LSD2.
