3. Anurag Kashyap

Born on 10th September 1972, Anurag Kashyap has established himself in Bollywood as a prominent director, producer, and screenwriter while even giving acting a try.  A born and raised Uttar Pradeshi, Kashyap had keen interest in science and aimed to become a scientist. In an interview Anurag said that he had no dreams of going into the film industry and had all hopes of pursuing Zoology. He went on to say, this all changed in 1993 after he watched Bicycle Thieves, an Italian film directed by Vittorio De Sica. The film inspired him enough to give us becoming a scientist and move to Dehli to become a filmmaker.    

Anurag got his first chance in the industry as a screenwriter for Auto Narayan when the initial script by Subramaniam was not working and Anurag was given a chance to rewrite it. He then wrote the screenplay for Jayate, a Hansal Mehta film, which was never released. Ram Gopal Varma was impressed by Anurag’s work in Auto Narayan and signed him for the screenplay and dialogue for his thriller, Satya. The film was critically acclaimed as one of the best crime, gangster movie of Bollywood. He then dabbled with production after some time with his director debut in Paanch. The movie faced trouble with the certification board due to the content not being suitable for all.  In 2012, he took on two ambitious movies in Gangs of Wasseypur 1 and 2, which received numerous awards and outstanding reviews. He recently produced and directed Bombay Velvet, which is currently in theatre and has received praise from critics.

6. Rajeev Khandelwal

Rajeev Khandelwal is a model turned film and television actor. He was born on October 16, 1975 in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. Initially, the actor works as a Production Controller in a production house in Delhi. Later, he became a model for brands like LML, Kodak Express, Green Label Whisky, Videocon Refrigerators and more. He studied at St. Xavier’s College in Ahmedabad and took up B.Sc Chemistry Honors in college. His parents are Vijayalaxmi Khandelwal and Col. C. L. Khandelwal.

His passion for acting started in the television serial, Kya Hadsaa Kya Haqeeqat in year 2002, opposite Pallavi Kulkarni. He then played as Sujal Garewal in the Balaji Telefilms’ Kahiin to Hoga. In year 2005, Rajeev played as Varun Awasthi, an Intelligence Officer of the Research and Analysis Wing, in the Hindi political thriller serial, Time Bomb 9/11 on Zee TV. In the same year, the actor also portrayed the role of ACP Prithviraj in the crime detective show, C.I.D on Sony TV. In 2006, he portrayed the role of Captain Rajveer Singh Shekhawat in the youth-oriented television series, Left Right Left on SAB TV. Besides acting, Rajeev became a presenter in shows like Deal Ya No Deal, Supercars and the reality show, Sach Ka Saamna. Rajeev was also featured in SunLeyna, a television show in Pakistan. He was also seen in several music videos like Jhoom Jhoom of Saru Maini and more. 

He made his debut in the big screen in year 2008 through the Hindi psychological crime thriller film, Aamir, under the direction of Raj Kumar Gupta, followed by Shaitan in year 2011. In the same year, he portrayed the role of a deaf DJ in Soundtrack by Neerav Gosh. In year 2012, he appeared in the romantic comedy film, ‘Will You Marry Me?’ then in 2013, he was paired with Tena Desae in Aditya Dutt’s mystery thriller film, Table No. 21. Rajeev also donned films like Ishq Actually, Samrat & Co. and DOA Death of Amar.


He won the Best Jodi Award at the Star Parivaar Awards in 2004 together with Amna Shariff. He got married on February 7, 2011 to Manjiri Kamtikar. He claimed that he is an atheist.

7. Bejoy Nambiar

Bejoy Nambiar was born on April 12th, 1979 in Kochi, India. He is a screenwriter, a story writer, and a director who is mostly known for his short films, "Reflections" and "Rahu." In 2007, he was married to Juhi Babbar, an Indian film and television actress, although they, unfortunately, divorced after two years. Cheating and forgery were claimed to be the cause of the divorce. Also, Babbar stated that for Nambiar, work seemed more important than marriage.

 

Nambiar began his career as a director with his first Malayalam short film, "Reflections", in 2005. The film was written and produced by him too. Also, he directed another short film, "Rahu," in 2008. 

 

He continued his career as a director, and he directed a Hindi thriller film, "Shaitan," which marked his first debut in 2011. Nambiar claimed that he had a different point of view since he wanted to shoot the film at unusual places and refused to shoot it at common locations. Also, he worked on a bilingual gangster comedy film, "David", in 2013, which became his second feature film. He directed the film himself wrote and produced it with the help of Natasha Sahgal and Sharada Trilok. An alternate version of "David" was also directed by himself, which featured a different cast and was shot in Tamil. He was also a member of the jury for India Film Project during the same year. In 2014, Nambiar produced "Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Ho Gayi" and "Pizza", a Hindi comedy, romance, and drama film, and a supernatural thriller film.

 

This year, he is currently filming Wazir, a Hindi drama which will be released in December. Although he was mostly the writer, director, and producer for the previous films, now he is taking part as a director only.
