Smita Jaykar is a well known actress in Indian cinema that is prominently seen playing supportive roles. She was born and brought up in a Maharashtrian family and her native is Thakurdwar in Mumbai. She is married to Mohan Jaykar who is the son of respectful advocate Mr. Jaykak. She is famous for her renowned roles in several Marathi daily soaps and Bollywood movies. She started her career in 1995. She has done several Bollywood movies that make a long list in her notable career.


She was also appraised for her performance in a daily soap Yahaaan Main Ghar Ghar Kheli which was aired on Zee TV. She played the role of Abha’s (main lead) Mother aka Thakurain Chandra Prabh. The story revolved around a father daughter relation who believed in ethics and also where against woman who earn. The character of Smita Jaykar was about an understanding wife cum mother who does the upbringing of her children in a well and supportive manner. She was recently seen in a movie Sonali Cable which released in the year 2014. She played the antagonist role of mother of the main lead Ali Fazal in the Movie.

2. Anita Kanwar

Anita Kanwar is an Indian film and television actress who earned her popularity after she successfully portrayed the role of Lajoji, the wife of Master Haveliram (played by Alok Nath) in the television series, Buniyaad which was aired on DD National in year 1986.


Anita usually acted in school and she was in college when she saw an adaptation of Ibrahim Alkazi’s Look Back in Anger. It was then when she realized what she wanted to be, an actress. She attended and graduated from the National School of Drama and trained under the popular, Mr. Ibrahim Alkazi himself in 1978. She never thought of doing any television shows or act in the big screen since all she wanted to do was to act in theater. Until she realized that she also need to survive life and theater won’t provide her needs. She moved to Mumbai but initially, she struggled so much and had no work for quite too long, until she was cast in Buniyaad. But after this, there was no work for her again and she was typecast for her character in Buniyaad. That’s when she decided to leave Mumbai and lived in Delhi.


She also acted in 1985 Hindi autobiographical film, Janam by Mahesh Bhatt. She played as Rekha in Mira Nair’s ‘Salaam Bombay!’ and bagged the role of Rekha in 1988, where she earned nomination at for Best Supporting Actress at the Filmfare Award. Later, she has done a tomboy character in the Hindi film, Thodasa Roomani Ho Jaayen. Prior to this, the actress started acting in the 1982 Hindi film, Aadharshila, followed with a list of film to her credit including the film, Spandan in 1982, Mandi in 1983, Trikaal in 1985 where she acted as Sylvia, the hysterical mother of Anna (played by Sushma Prakash), Mati Manas, Sheela and Amrit in 1986 and Shyam Benegal’s Susman in 1987. She was also seen in the 1987 film, Dacait. In 1988, she was starred as Phoolkumari in the Indian Postmodernist film, Om-Dar-Ba-Dar and later bagged a role in Tumare Share before she donned the film, ‘Salaam Bombay!’ She was also seen in the 1989 art film, Ek Din Achanak which stars Shreeram Lagoo and Shabana Azmi. She also did the films, Bandook Dahej Ke Seeney Par  in 1989, A Woman in 1990 and she was featured in Amol Palekar’s Thodasa Roomani Ho Jaayen in the same year.


After Buniyaad, Anita also acted in the television serial, Pukar. It was her last performance in the screen before she took a six-year hiatus from the industry. When she returned, she was starred on another crime-based serial entitled, Saboot where she bagged the role of Inspector KC, a CBI Officer. Later, she acted in the television serial, Shanti as Indu Singh.

Those who follow Bollywood movies are accustomed to the character ‘Iqbal,’ which follows the story of a mute and deaf, rookie Indian bowler’s attempt to achieve recognition, and be one of the prestigious XI, that represent the country in cricket. The character, which goes by the same name of Iqbal, was portrayed by none other than Shreyas Talpade, who is an Indian actor. Shreyas is a Mumbaikar, who pursued his schooling from Shree Ram Welfare Society. The inception of his career began with Marathi television serials, and numerous stage plays across the state. Shreyas was famous for his role in the Marathi soap opera, Aabhal Maaya. In the year 1997, he pocketed a crucial role as a child actor in the Zee TV produced television serial “Woh.” Talpade played the role of a young Ashutosh Gowarikar. He is also ostentatious for his roles in the mini soap operas produced by Adhikari Brothers, and his role as “Tejas,” in the Damini. The character of Tejas, transformed Talpade, into a well-known Marathi household name. Shreyas began his movie venture with cameos in Nidaan, Raghu More, and Aankhen. The movie was a huge hit at the box office, and Shreyas was also nominated for a Filmfare Award in the Debut category.
