The film is based on the play Tollu Gatti by TP Kailasam, a well-known dramatist. In the film, Sandeep Malani plays Hiriyanna, the patriarch of the household and a gruff, egoistic solid, and rigid Havyaka Brahmin, set in the 1950s. Sandeep Malani won an award at the renowned 7th Indian Cine Film Festival in Mumbai on September 8 for his performance in the film Mookavismitha. The event received around 374 submissions throughout India.
