Born on the 18th of July, 1978 in the Kanhangad district of Kerala, Vyshakh is neither among the old generation of directors and nor among the new generation battalion making movies solely with say, Fahadh Fazil or Dulquer Salman. Vyshakh on the other hand, belongs somewhere midway, bridging this link. This bridging of the generation gap is clearly visible in his directorial debut ‘Pokkiri Raja’ that released in 2010. He is known for making some masala entertainers in Malayalam. Pokkiri Raja starred Mammootty and Prithviraj Sukumaran in lead roles, and nothing portrays better the combination of two generations or rather entirely two mindsets in his movies. It turned out to be the largest grosser in the Malayalam movie industry in 2010. It dealt with the story of two brothers, one of whom is an underworld don and how he helps his younger brother fight for his lobe interest who is played by Shriya Saran. ‘Seniors’, which released in 2011 starring Manoj K Jayan, Jayaram, Biju Menon and Kunchacko Boban, came next. This one too was a great commercial success and garnered great reviews. Set in a comical and hilarious setting it dealt with a murder mystery and how a group of four friends return after a long gap to their college to figure out who among them is the actual murderer after one of them was wrongly charged with the crime long back.
