Comedy Time was a Comedy Show hosted in Surya TV. The show was well known and famous for its anchor – Kootikkal Jayachandran, who is also an actor. He also won the best television anchor of the year award for 2004. The show was an attempt to bring in audience participation through letters and phone calls. The audience had an option to ask for their favorite comedy scene from different movies.
The show successfully ran for a period of four years. Different comedy scenes which were the favorites among the audience were played for the audience upon request. Of great interest was the general comic comments made by the anchor himself and the mimicking of the actors that Jayachandran was famous for. The show also included a stage where the anchor called audiences to their houses and spoke to them and their requests were played.
There was a huge fan following for this programme which included frequent callers, mailers. A programme that entertained all genres of people equally, Comedy Time was an occasion for its audience to recollect and laugh out loud on old jokes that they were already familiar with. However, upon closing the show, the audience was disappointed. The show has been taken up in different other formats in other channels with different anchors thereafter(2000 to 2004 in Surya TV).
