The show has a story about how love can withstand conditions. Sethu Lakhsmi is a greedy lady, and wants rich daughter-in-law for her son Prashanth. Prashanth, on the other hand, is in love with Divya, a family loving a middle-class girl, and marries her. Divya now has to face many tortures from her greedy mother-in-law who wants dowry from her. The rest of the story is how Prashanth, and Divya stand up for themselves.

Prashanthan belongs to an affluent family. He is the eldest among three sons of Sethulakshmi and Lakshmanan Pillai. He is going to be married to Divya, who belongs to the Meledath family. However, his mother Sethulakshmi, is greedy and the only reason she had convinced him for this marriage is to get a huge dowry. However, Divya brings in a small dowry, with a few gold pieces of jewellery. This greatly displeases Sethulakshmi, who wanted to get all of Divya’s wealth. Using her influence as Divya’s mother-in-law, Sethulakshmi crosses all boundaries to pressure her and her parents for obtaining their wealth, making their lives miserable. But this is not where Divya’s troubles end.

There is also Mayuri, Prashanthan’s cousin. She had always wanted to marry him. Under the pretense of caring for his family, she is secretly scheming to ruin his marriage. In the middle of all of the problems created by others, Divya and Prashanthan, who love each other, face all odds to save their marriage.
