Simran thirai was a new feat in the Tamil small screen history. It telecasted mini serials, one for each month. Each story was by a different writer and was of different genre. The stories with importance given to female characters were chosen. The lead female character in each story was played by the star Actress Simran. She played a spectrum of characters ranging from a college to a mother to a Goddess. After a decade of successful stardom career, this series staged a new facet of her acting and it was a piece of cake to her. The series started on March 2008 and was telecasted in Jaya TV on weekdays at 8.30 PM. The first series was called vannathupoochi and was based on writer Sujatha’s suspense thriller Vannathu poochi vettai. Which revolves around an innocent girl who gets cheated by her husband and in laws? It was directed by Actor – Director Shri Priya and the casting by Simran, Raghav and Mohan Ram. The second series was Anuvum naanum written by Actress Shri Priya and was directed by Agathiyan. Simran, Prem Sai and Baby Praharshitha has acted in the lead role. It says the story of the difficulties and complex situations faced by a couple and their step daughter., Navavelli was a series in which simran played 14 different character which is based on the Goddess Amman as Aadi, the Tamil month in which the serial was telecasted was dedicated to this Goddess. Other miniseries were Naerukku ner, Dharma yuddham and kannamoochi re re each one of a different female oriented theme. Simran thirai had really broken the unwritten rules of sobbing melodramas.
