Art is viable with the excellence of the artists. Fortunately, the Indian Music Industry is filled with artists. One such a gift to the Industry was South Indian Carnatic Musician, who has a posthumous fan following even today is Thoguluva Meenatchi Soundararajan, popularly known as TMS. He has lent his “Golden Voice” for over six and a half decades. T.M.S. Times is a show to celebrate the musical journey of the legendary playback singer, who has contributed his efforts for hours of solitude to enlighten the music world with his heart wrenching, devotional and patriotic songs.

Born in the reign of British India 1922 in Madras to a Saurashtra Brahmin family and trained his voice at the age of seven and started giving stage classical concerts at the age of 23. TMS gained recognition after his first hit Tamil song “Radhe Ennai Vittu Pogathedi” from the movie “Krishna Vijayam” in 1950. His career soon reached heights when he performed for 11 different languages and lyricized, composed and directed music for numerous devotional songs along with many international musical concerts starting from Malaysia in the year 1957. It is also a less known fact that TMS also acted in the film Devagi.

His contribution outpoured some of the masterpieces to the music industry and singing for total 10,138 songs from 3162 films for which he was recognized globally on both National and International platforms and the Music Industry honored him with more than 50 Awards including the highest civilian award Padma Shri in the year 2003 and Honorary Doctorate from Belgium. As a way to pay tribute to the quintessential singer, the Government of India released a memorial stamp and issued it in December 2016 after he left for his heavenly abode in May 2013.

The show mainly displays the performances of talented artists showcasing their love and respect for TMS by performing and recreating his songs with live musicians and orchestra. These timeless melodies will keep the audience captivated inducing the nostalgic experience in the memory of this substantial and incomparable music artist late Shri. T.M. Soundararajan.
