The actor played the role of Khalu. He and his on-screen wife, Khala, played the parts of greedy people who wanted to take advantage of their relation with Begum Sahiba, an important person in the society that he serial was set in. This led to many hilarious antics that viewers really enjoyed.
It was later revealed in an interview that Khalu and Khala were also great friends off-screen, and one of the secrets of their successful performance was that they kept on improvising dialogues and sometimes even parts of the act.
The actor has not been active after the conclusion of ‘Qubool Hai’ even though audiences praised his comic role as Khalu. A critic said that Chayan was good fit for the role, even though he had not expected the actor to be able to play the part properly.
