Amit Bose is an Indian film director and editor. He directed all time classic films such as Abhilasha in the year 1968, and later as an editor worked on movies like Madhumati in 1958, Parakh in 1960, Kabuliwala in 1961, Sujata in 1959, Usne Kaha Tha in 1960 and much more. He also received a chance to work as a chief editor for many renowned directors like Sanjay Khan.

Amit Bose was born in a small part of Bihar called Jamshedpur situated in India. He is the grandson of geologist Mr, Pramatha Nath Bose, who is famous for the discovery of iron ores, which made the realm of J.R.D Tata a reality and that today is known as Tata Group. In his childhood days, he was a student of the open-air institution named Visva Bharti situated in Bolpur, Santiniketan, opened by Rabindranath Tagore. He started his new life in the movie industry in the year 1946 in Calcutta. He assisted the notable movie director called Nimai Ghosh when he was making his motion picture called Chinna Mul. He also received a chance to appear in Majumdar's movie called Tamasha. In the year 1952, Mr. Amit Bose did an internship in A.B, Pathe, and Pinewood Studios in England.

Then in 1953, he performed and directed classic novel of Sharat Chandra Chatterji Devdas and played the role of Devdas itself on stage.
