Bengali Director Mujibar Rahaman

Mujibar Rahaman is an Indian director, producer, and documentary filmmaker who works mainly in the Bengali film industry. He was born on May 25, 1973, in Murshidabad, West Bengal. Mujibar went to Kolkata after completing his school. Mujibar graduated from Calcutta University in 1995. After that, he did a Film Appreciation Course at the West Bengal Film Centre, Nandan. Mujibar has directed full-length and short-length documentaries. Some of his full-length documentaries are “Rokya - Aloker Dooti,” produced by Kolkata Municipal Corporation, “Munshi Premchand, Kalam Ke Sipahi,” produced by Munshi Premchand Birth Centenary Committee, “Rabindranath Thakur – Jeevan O Samay (Bengali Version),” and “Images Unbound-The Life and Times of Rabindranath Tagore (English Version).

Some of the short-length documentaries on the legends of Indian Classical music are Ustad Allahrakha (Tabla), Pandit Kishan Maharaj (Tabla), Ustad Nisar Hussain Khan (Vocal), Ustad Vilayat Khan (Sitar), Pandit Jnan Prakash Ghosh (Tabla), Ustad Hafiz Ali Khan (Sarod), Gaan Tapasvini Mogubhai Kudikar (Vocal), Pandit Bishmadev Chattapadhya (Vocal), Pt. Bhimsen Joshi (Vocal), Ustad Ali Akbar Khan (Sarod), Pt. Vijay Kumar Kichlu (Vocal), and Pandit Sankha Chatterjee (Tabla). Mujibar’s documentaries on institutions and organizations are “PAN PANIO,” “CRIJAF,” “INK,” Dishari,” “Swapanpath,” “IOS,” “Green India Clean India,” Choker Aloy,” and “Naba Disha.” Mujibar Rahaman also wrote screenplays and directed TV Serials. He wrote the script and directed “Bideshi Bodhu,” a Bengali TV Serial that was telecasted on Zee Bangla. His other work includes “Mahalaya-Mahalayer Mahalohne for Akash Bangla (90 minutes special programme) and he also worked in a special program of Eid-ul-Filtar- Eid Katha for Tara News. His written and directed films are “Sansodhan,” and “Bhangoner Pore.” Mujibar Rahaman also directed some short biographical films.

Some of his films are “Shree Santosh Kumar Das (Social Activist and Educationalist),” “Anwara Chowdary (Social Activist and Educationist),” “Dukhumianar Golpo (a short film on rebel poet Kazi Nazrul Isalm),” Agnoonpakhi (singer Nachiketa),” “Shree Nandalal Maity (Mathematician),” “Shree Tushar Kanjilal (Social Activist and Educationist),” “Ami Sei Meye (Bratati Bandyopadhyay),” “Md. Sohrab (Social Activist and Educationist),” “Munshi Abul Kaseem,” “Shri Sunanda Sannyal,” “Shree Panchanan Parui (Social Activist and Educationist),” and “Shree Bijay Bandopadhay (Historian and Economist).” Mujibar Rahaman was a member of Film Writers Association, Mumbai, and he was also a member of Ritwik Cine Society, Kolkata. He was a secretary at the Neo Film Foundation of Bengal and a secretary at the Oriental Media Forum. Mujibar was a member of the Ritwik Memorial Library, Nandan, West Bengal Film Center.
