Brian Glover was an actor, teacher, writer, and professor wrestler born on 2nd April 1934. He was born in Sheffield, West Riding of Yorkshire, England. His father was Charles Glover, a professional wrestler like his son, performing under the alias "Red Devil. "After winning a scholarship from Barnsley Grammar School, he studied there and later pursued higher education at the University of Sheffield, studying English and French. Brian supplemented his student grant by working as a professional wrestler under the alias "Leon Arras, the Man From Paris." Brian was married twice, once in 1954 to Elaine Foster, and after they divorced, he married Tara Prem, daughter of actor Bakshi Prem, in 1976. He had two children, one from each of his marriages.

He started teaching English and French in the same Barney School he had attended, teaching English and French. His first acting job was in 1969 when a book called Kes, written by his teaching colleague Barry Hines, was adapted into a film, and Barry had suggested Brian play a part in the movie. In "Kes," he made his acting debut as the intrusive sports teacher and nailed his role even though he had no acting experience. His rugged build, assertive voice, bald head, and Yorkshire accent gave him the opportunity to act in several works as criminals and tough guys. In 1992 Brian acted in a production of "Richard III" as Buckingham and played the role of Bottom in an adaptation of "A Midsummer Night's Dream.” He starred in several films throughout his career, including "A Choice of Weapons" (1976) alongside John Mills, "Jabberwocky" (1977), and "The First Great Train Robbery" (1979) with Sean Connery.
