Marcel Spears an actor, and producer Born on December 13, 1988, in New Orleans, USA was a preacher’s son. Marcel Spears began his acting career on the stage before winning his television series debut in the role of T.K. Carter in "The Mayor". It was a political sitcom about a budding rapper who decides to promote his mixtape by running for mayor of his city in California. Spears began performing in school and church, then moved on to Prairie View A&M University to study theater and Columbia University to pursue acting. Spears began on the stage, playing leading roles in "Othello" and "Romeo and Juliet" in New York Shakespeare productions. He went on to star in the world premieres of Rachel Bonds' "At the Old Place" in San Diego, Ruben Santiago-"Ma Hudson's Rainey's Black Bottom" in New Jersey, and Alice Childress' play "Trouble in Mind" at Minneapolis' Guthrie Theaters, as well as "Picasso at the Lapin Agile" at the Old Globe Theater with Justin Long and Donald Faison.
