Steven Robertson

Steven Robertson, born on 1 January 1977, is a Scottish actor who grew up with his two sisters in the town of Vidlin in the Shetland Islands of Scotland. Robertson struggled with and overcame severe dyslexia as a kid. He worked as an odd-job worker in his city before pursuing an acting career. During his early life, he was in constant touch with the Shetland poet Rhoda Bulter. She inspired him to pursue a career in the arts by narrating him old Shetland tales. Robertson studied music and drama at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. He met his wife, actress Charlotte Allam while studying there. He subsequently went on to play an Angelic Priest in the 2005 film Kingdom of Heaven.

Following that, he had a substantial role in the 2005 French war film Joyeux Noel, in which he played Jonathan, a young man whose brother got killed in WW1. Robertson went on to play roles in many Television series, including Luther, in which he played both of the Millberry twins, a couple who decided the fate of their victims by tossing a dice. Robertson portrayed Dominic Rook, a government leader whose department safeguards the planet against supernaturals in series 5 of the British supernatural drama Being Human. Later, he appeared as Terrence in Series 2 of Utopia, a British conspiracy thriller for Channel 4. Robertson returned to Shetland to film the Television series of the same name, in which he played Constable Sandy Wilson in the BBC One adaptation of the famous Ann Cleeves book series.

The lack of Shetland accents in the program was criticized, with Robertson being the only significant cast member born and raised on the islands. The series, on the other hand, attracted over 6 million viewers. A second series was commissioned, with actors Brian Cox, Julie Graham, and Alex Norton joining Douglas Henshall and Robertson, with Robertson's being a detective. For the fourth season, Robertson made his appearance as DC Wilson which aired in early 2018, the fifth series, which aired in early 2019, and the sixth series, which aired in 2021.
