Sherri Shepherd

Sherri Shepherd is a famous American comedian, actor, and comedian. Sherri Evonne Shepherd was born in Chicago, Illinois on 22 April 1967. Her parents are Lawrence A. Shepherd (food service manager in Sambos Restaurant and also a church deacon) and LaVerne (her mother who cleaned homes).

She has two sisters of whom she is the oldest. She went to Winston Churchill Elementary Shcool. She completed her high school from Eisenhower Junior High School in Community Consolidated School District 54. When Sherri turned 11 years old, her family shifted to Hoffman Estates to live in the suburbs. There, she went to Hoffman Estate High School of District 211.

Sherri married Jeff Tarpley and had a son named Jeffrey. The child was born before the due date, pre-maturely. Her son shares the same birth date as Sherri’s. On 26 December 2010, Lamar Sally who is a TV writer proposed Sherri. They got married the next year in August at the Fairmount Hotel, Chicago. Her second child was born by surrogacy. In May 2014, Sally filed a divorce, and a few days later Sherri did the same. In July 2014, she filed for full custody for the baby expected from surrogacy. She got the full custody on 22 April 2015. She has type 2 diabetes. Sherri started off as a stand-up comedian from 1990. She worked with a legal firm in Beverly Hills along with stand-up comedy as a legal secretary.

She quit her job in 1995, but being a comedian didn’t pay the bills. She had to come back to her secretarial job. But only after 12 days at her old job, she got a call for a series on WB channel. The series was called Cleghorne! And it was aired for only one season in 1995. She couldn’t bag any role after that which made her go back to her law firm. She worked there for next three years. She did television series like Holding the Baby, The Jamie Foxx Show; Everybody Loves Raymond, Emeril, My Adventures in Television, and her most famous work in Less Than Perfect in which she played the role of Ramona Platt who works with the main lead Sara Rue (Claudia) and much more. Sherri has also done movies like Cellulars, Guess Who, Transformers, Precious, etc. She also starred as a contestant on the ABC reality show, Dancing With the Stars in March 2012. She was eliminated in the fourth week. Sherri has also written books like Permission of Slips in 2009 and co-wrote Plan D which was a book about beating diabetes. She has received four awards which include an Emmy Award for Outstanding Talk Show Host for The View. She has 13 different nominees as well.
